Check if playsms daemon is running from PHP

Running Playsms 1.4 on Ubuntu and would like to know if there is any way I could check if playsmsd daemon is running from PHP. I would like to create a watchdog to notify me if the daemon is not running.

Try:

playsmsd check_json
